This is Skaz with a weekly review of "Bad Manners" development (Oct 24 - Oct 30).
As always, our team wasn’t able to finish some of the planned things, but has done more in other areas:
1) Our artist has finished art new girl #3 (left from previous artist), and it could be added into the game. So our princess #3 is fully ready – we will make a pool next week about her identity along with several tips. If you would be able to guess who is it correctly then we will show you the prepared art :-)
2) All art with this princess (from topic 1) is implemented into the game code.
3) Receive sketch for the last remaining character. There was a heated discussion in the supporter’s forum branch on the visual, so our team had to reveal some of the character’s history for better understanding. Suggestions on art improvements were sent to the artist.
4) Prepared a specification for the artist on emotions of the last character (Thanks to pavlin for assistance).
5) Big thanks to SaXarok, who reworked art for the new mini-game.
6) Received corrected art of a pair of item for the shop (thanks to taezin).
7) Most of the dialogs from the 3rd training phase are finished. Wasn’t able to finish it completely yet: this part of training is going to be a large one and a lot of time were allocated on art questions, so …
8) While working on the 3rd phase of training our team has added 6 (!) new additional characters, which were not planned initially. Dev. Team was surprised due to several reasons: this is a lot of secondary characters; each of them has its’ own character along with special art (but it is not fully unique). Description is quite vague, but sponsors has probably understood what I’m talking about. All the others will need to wait and try to guess themselves on all of this for some time.
9) Received small corrections for the code for working with active zones on the game screen (Thanks to Axil).
10) Our team may be biased, but with addition of secondary characters and story details the game itself comes to life on its own. Our main task is still the same – creation of an interesting story (and not a large number of sexual positions and deviations ;-) ) This game is becoming not a tale about Dorothy seduction, but a story about a young ambitious prince and how he is managing as a director of the Imperial Institute for Noble Maidens. Previous game version had only 4 character, but now there are 14 (8 main ones and 6 secondary). Some of them has a higher status then our prince, so he wouldn’t be able to call them into his office anytime (like with Dorothy). All of this results in new relationships between characters and additional plot twists.

Next week we are planning to finish dialogs for the 3rd training phase, so we could create a build for initial internal test. Also our artist should provide more sketches for the new character.

* Sketch for the last new character is approved (our team appreciates help from all the patrons, who provided reviews). Our artist is making the sketch to a full color picture.
* Received a pair of new cute icons (thanks to SaXarok).
* Added 1 new control button (already have an icon for it) and updated icon for another one. (again thanks to SaXarok).
* Implemented several good changes to the art for our new girl #3 (big thanks to SaXarok).
* This week we made a pool to guess, who is our new heroine #3. Looks like our tips were too good and we underestimated knowledge of our fans. Correct answer was already revealed in the very first post. Art will be shown later this week.
* Received new art for an item from the game shop (thanks to taezin).
* Finished coding events for the 3rd education phase and started its' test.
* Added changes into art of all secondary characters. Btw, usage of the Photoshop scrips accelerated art modification, cutting into parts and adding it to the game sources.
* Added new mechanism for working with objects. Players always said that game version 0.20 was too straightforward and doesn't allows player to look around. So we have made changes - interacting with objects will be more diverse and you will need to think more, on which item is needed for the exact character and how it should be presented.
* We had to make a hard decision this week - I won't give more details at the moment, but it should help to release new version 2-3 month faster.
* On the topic of the internal test. Initially we were going to start it with raw content. But after showing prepared zero phase to a pair of testers, our team received a number of complaints similar to: “emotions are not shown – it is disturbing”, “characters are placed incorrectly – not easy to play” (translator's note - welcome to the world of alpha testers – life is not easy :-) ). As that build was some kind of pre-alpha, we didn’t plan to include all these into it, as those features were not ready yet. But as it looks like they are needed even for initial internal tests we decided to delay Alpha build until it is more like a release version and have more features implemented.
* This week we are planning to debug events from phase #3 and our artist is going to provide more art for our last new character.

Thank you for your interest!
We'll start translate version 0.30 (the version which is developing now) in English after it will be released in Russian. It will come in 2017. I'm sorry that the date is so vague, but we cann't to say more exactly now.
We'll going to share youtube video in English with a couple scenes of BM this year. Please, follow news updates on our website.

This is Skaz with a weekly review of "Bad Manners" development (Nov 7 - Nov 13).

* Received art of new character #5 in line and in based color. Showing it to the patrons resulted in an internal battle because art was too good. It was more realistic and had more details but was less suitable for cartoons environment. There were 2 main opinions how we should proceed: a) worsen new art a little to be more on the same levels as other characters; b) don’t change new art, but improve existing one in the near future. Our team had its’ own opinion, but we wanted to find out thoughts from our patrons. But sometimes decisions could be diametrically opposed so you had to agree with somethings and give up another. We had made a decision and it shouldn’t affect release date of the game version 0.3.
* While all of this was going on our artist send sketches for all cloth of character #5.
* Received pictures for several items in the shop (thanks to taezin). We received even more materials that we were waiting initially.
* Received another button icon for the interface (thanks to SaXarok). In game version 0.2 there were 3 control buttons (‘Tasks’, ‘Objects’ and ‘End planning’) – now there are 6 of them.
* Received several notable details for character #4 (thanks to SaXarok). This is the case, when details make end result for alive.
* Find out and fixed a bug with save game crash, noticed in version 0.2. Bug report is not very detailed but initially we anticipated fix would take a week or even more to fix, instead we managed to finish it in a day.
* 3rd phase testing is complete. Rerunning build from the beginning up to the end of the 3rd phase, which afterwards would be forwarded to the internal test. We plan that the test will be finished in a week’ time. After internal test is finished, you would be able to read reviews from our testers.
* As always: added new dialogs, corrected older ones, done some more bugfixing – nothing new or exciting.

This week we are expecting to receive finished art for the character #5 and start internal test with several first game phases.

* Our artist has finished with character #5. Last time we reported about art being less cartoonish. Art was corrected – it is more in line for cartoon setting, but keeping the quality. Now we have all new characters, but still need to finish CG scenes.
* Received a good art for game clock (thanks to SaXarok)
* Got new art for interesting books and packages, which would be use for delivering items to the college (thanks to taezin)
*The main weekly task is finished – we have prepared build for internal testing, including content up to the 4th phase of the education. It would be probably finished on Monday-Tuesday. Testers reviews will be shared in next weekly review (without game spoilers).
* This week our team received a request to share a roadmap, for better understanding of development process and release dates. We will probably prepare some sort of roadmap next week (or a week after next, if we have too much testers reviews).

This is Skaz with a weekly review of "Bad Manners" development (Nov 21 - Nov 27).

* Let’s start from the main event of this week…unfortunately this is not the internal test of the game version with several first phases of the education. This was done and it will be covered later in the report. After finishing with characters, our artist decided not to start working on CG scenes due to high workload on her main job (translator’s note – seems similar, unfortunately). Such things happen because of New Year vacations nearing. So most of free time allocated on this project was spent on new artist search. Contacted with several candidates, but at the moment we haven’t found an appropriate one. At the same time, a lot of work is done on clarifying requirements for the game cover. (Thanks a lot for the pavlin’s help on this).
* Received part for art for the mini-game (thanks to SaXarok)
* Now about test results. Below you can find fragments of several reviews. They include answers to the first two questions of the questionnaire (for game testers) and summary of the tester, if any (our Patrons have access to a more detailed reviews).There are no spoilers here, so you can read them without any fears.

 Review #1 (game time 3+ hours)
· What were you expecting from the test version of the Bad Manners v0.22 and how you came to that expectations:
Was expecting an improved variant of the previous game build: parallel and intersecting storylines with different characters; some freedom for the gamer and attention split between several event chains. Expected more gameplay nearby – previously we only had Dorothy to play with.
· Expectation were met or not, in which aspects exactly?
Expectations were met on the following points: there are new characters in the game.
Expectations were not justified: the game is strictly linear, there is no way to concentrate on a single storyline – all lines are a part of the main one.
· Suggestions for the project and on development directions (for dev. Directions please clarify why you think we need to go this way and why it is the best direction for the game)
Give the player freedom to choose direction, make some optional events or even characters, make separate event’ chains.


 Review #2 (game time 5 hours)
· What were you expecting from the test version of the Bad Manners v0.22 and how you came to that expectations:
It hard to tell on this, because I knew a main story line saw art and so on (translator’s note – Skaz, are you giving a review for your own game? :-) ). Most likely I wanted to check the scale of the project, see the changes, was waiting for named peasants and their story, wanted to see new Mary’s dialogs (due to story changes) and was waiting for the scenes with Elsa and Anna.
· Expectation were met or not, in which aspects exactly?
Yes and no: in terms of the scale – yes, game is improving; about peasant story – yes and no (will give more information later); liked new dialogs with Mary: there are small hints on her role in the future (but they are probably visible only if you know more). It’s a pity but there are no cuddling or kissing scenes.
· Suggestions for the project and on development directions (for dev. Directions please clarify why you think we need to go this way and why it is the best direction for the game)
I’m satisfied with the way this project is heading. Wish smooth game promotion in the future and all sorts of new ideas.


 Review #3 (game time 4 hours)
· What were you expecting from the test version of the Bad Manners v0.22 and how you came to that expectations:
When I started playing I was expecting to see a crude game version, on which you are not able to estimate the atmosphere of the project and can only see which game graphics is in dire need of an update (I’m the game icons’ artist).
· Expectation were met or not, in which aspects exactly?
Expectations were not met – I was expecting a MUCH WORCE version.
· Suggestions for the project and on development directions (for dev. Directions please clarify why you think we need to go this way and why it is the best direction for the game)
* I really like political maneuvering (even when there were so little of them) – so would like to see more ways to affect the world nearby: via dialogs (as was shown in this version) and with the help of optional quests and events.
* Awesome last dialog, especially mentioning of the Elk (translator’s note – actually it was a deer ;-) )


 Review #4 (game time 4+ hours)
· What were you expecting from the test version of the Bad Manners v0.22 and how you came to that expectations:
Was expecting new characters, new events, main plot development.
· Expectation were met or not, in which aspects exactly?
Justified: there are more characters in the game and the game plot has started moving.
· Summary
I liked the game, even as it is now. Current base is quite good already – you need only minor fixes and improvements to have a great version. Liked game humor : there were some in the previous version and now there is even more of it. Without humor this game would be boring and bland.

* I came to several conclusions, based on test results: help system will be updated; started reworking events to parallel game threads more, players would be able to achieve some goals two ways (if it is appropriate for the story). Thanks a lot for the suggestions and reviews from all the testers.
* Next week will be mostly devoted to the new artist search and the remainder – on the game engine changes in accordance with the tester’s comments. If everything will be going super smoothly our team will start coding the next phase for the college.

This is Skaz with a weekly review of "Bad Manners" development (Nov 28 - Dec 04).

* Main news of this week – we have found a new artist and started working on game cover. Intermediate results are expected next week.
* Remaining time was spend on game mechanics changes to consider Alpha-test reviews. Unfortunately this work is not yet finished – I’m expecting this will be the last large change in mechanics for the upcoming release. There are a lot of new great ideas, but a man can do no more then he can. In the near future we are going to concentrate on adding new events, if another improvement will require game engine changes.
* Received art for a mini game on opening closed doors (thanks to SaXarok)
* Finished draft for characters remember hall (thanks to Axill). Bad Manners is not a clothing game where player can easily choose cloth for character, but we will implement something similar – players will be able to “remember” characters dressed as they have already seen them.
* Our team is in a great need for a 2nd programmer, who will be mostly working on coding new events and their test. During last several month there were some people who wanted to help with programming but they were disappearing soon afterwards. Our team would appreciate if anyone would like to help us with this work – it would help to release new game version faster.
* Recently there was a request on our forum to share a project progress. It’s not easy to choose a parameter, which will definitely show development progress, but amount of drawn and codded art for the game should be close enough. The following link shows the current status (in Russian).

* Continue working on game cover: currently it is in the sketches stage (Appreciate help from Pavlin during discussions and valuable comments on this topic).
* Most of people who helped with coding or art creation are preparing for the holidays and temporally stopped their assistance, so there is no gratitude report this time.
* Finished adding changes to the game mechanics based on reports from alpha test (finally). Started writing down event for the 4th education phase in the college.
* Working on a small surprise for our players. It took a lot of time to prepare but I’m sure you will like it. Planning to show it next week.

* Continue working on game cover: adding more details to the sketch and correcting it (appreciate help from Pavlin for participating in the discussion). Unfortunately we are not satisfied with the current results and may need to find a new artist in the near future.
* Coding events for the 4th education phase and planning ones for the 5th phase in more details.
* And finally the most interesting part :-) : finished with our surprise for the upcoming holidays. Our team wishes you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and has prepared a present for all of you – we have made a small movie, which introduces our new characters and shows a pair of scenes with them. Our team wishes you a Good Week!

This is Skaz with a weekly review of "Bad Manners" development (Dec 19 - Dec 25).

* About art. Game cover sketch is finished. Unfortunately we decided to stop working with the artist, as she wasn’t able to provide needed quality of the art. Searching for new artist will begin after New Year.
* Most time was dedicated to work on scenario, including one not for the nearest game version. I’ve already read a lot of book on screenwriting and looks like it is time to review current scenario and adjust events order from beginning. As the result some scenes were reordered, unneeded communication events were dropped, a lot of events and even phases were merged to make plot more defined.
* Wrote several dialogs, finished another game phase.
* Previously I was mentioning the phase number on which I was working at that time, but it doesn’t show progress clearly enough how much work is left. Upcoming game version will include 9 phases (about 1hour of gameplay each). At the moment 5 phases are already coded, for the 6-th - dialogs are finished. So we still have 3 more game parts to finish, for which there are only overview of future events currently.
* On a side note Bad Manners is becoming an obscene comedy with sex scenes and not a porn game with depiction of the intercourse process.

The following week (pre-New Year’s week) we will continue working on main scenario – I’d like to write it down as more detailed as possible up to the very end. We will also continue working on dialogs for new game phases.
